ABOUT BACKBONE
Backbone is a post-noir detective RPG where you play as a raccoon detective named Howard Lotor and explore a pixelated dystopian Vancouver.
Years of the same type of investigations, lonely evenings and the most ordinary life of Howard Lotor changes radically when he gets a case that has never happened before in his practice. Howard finds himself forced to step outside of his usual workflow and end up taking on the city´s harsh, authoritarian government.
GAMEPLAY
Gameplay Backbone is a fresh take on the point-and-click adventure, combining elements of stealth, exploration and complex branching dialogue inspired by classic CRPGs.
As Howard, you will:
• In search of the truth, build relationships with a variety of characters
• Explore the flourishing and abandoned neighborhoods of Walled Vancouver
• Solve riddles and collect clues
• Solve puzzles and poke your nose everywhere
• And, of course, be a real raccoon
PECULIARITIES
Post-noir dystopia
Vancouver in Backbone is a dark and gloomy city full of dangers, but there is also a place for hope. Go to this cold existential world and find those who will help you change it for the better. You will not be alone in your quest: many are sure that Vancouver must change, but everyone has their own ideas about the best
Stunning graphics
An exciting combination of high-resolution pixel art and 3D effects: dynamic lightning, pouring rain, volumetric fog and neon lighting bring the city to life on screen.
Catchy soundtrack
The original soundtrack by Nikita Danshin and Arooj Aftab and well-chosen sound background create an unforgettable atmosphere reminiscent of the old cinema. You have never heard such dark jazz.
